Quote: “She never needed to be saved, but she thought it would be nice to have someone every once in a while, come to pick her up off the ground when she felt nothing but defeated.”
-Kayil York
I read this quote today and it made me think of the countless times I was waiting and wishing for someone to pick me up from where I once was. I thought about how I was waiting for someone to save me from the agony I felt because of my unhealthy choices. A light went off today. Why are we waiting for someone else to do the work? How often do we expect others to make us happy or fix our issues. How about we pick ourselves up and make the changes we need. Be the light we want to see in the world. I know that I can say this with confidence now but when I was in the trenches it was not an easy thought. I did pick myself up and build the life I want to live. I give myself credit for taking that first step. That is all it takes sometimes. Taking one step and keep putting one foot in front of the other while telling yourself don't look back. As a food biology coach, I often share my story with others because it opens the mind to how many different things we experience are a direct correlation of what we eat, how we eat, and when we eat.
In order to remain in a healthy place 4 things need to happen: 1. Choosing to eat alkaline foods that will elevate your vibrations because they affect the way your mind thinks and how your body feels. 2. Love and forgive yourself. The more you love the more you will begin to be happy and live with joy on a day to day basis. This will allow the body to have a regulated amount of cortisol release from being stress free.
3. Find people who have the same mindset and are living healthy as well. If your tribe is not where you want to go in life...change it quick! Get rid of toxic relationships. This includes friends who have a lot of drama and spill that over into your life. Family members who are not supportive, who criticize, and who are not verbally positive.
4. Give your body adequate and quality sleep. The average person should be sleeping 8 to 12 hours a day. Many of us miss this repair and reboot session we need at night because of daily distractions such as our phones and having a T.V. in our bedroom. We need to have a wind down period to shut down our thoughts before bed. Drinking tea, diffusing essentials oils like lavender and sage to create an ambiance for sleep allows us to unwind from the world. Our brains use this time to download memories from short term to long term status. Sleeping should be restful and enjoyable. I would suggest taking time on your next shopping trip to load the cart with sheets and pillows that make you want to lay in the bed. This will allow you to fully experience your sleep.
